Scrambler Therapy was invented by Giuseppe Marineo, a biophysicist at the University of Rome Tor Vergata in Italy. Marieno posited that interrupting the path of nociceptive signals, which are sent to the spinal cord and brain, could provide relief from the sensation of pain caused by chronic neuropathic issues.
This led to the development of the MC-5A FDA 510 (K) device, also known as Calmare, an amazing piece of technology that demonstrates Giuseppe Marineo’s theory was correct. Scrambler Therapy has been approved by the FDA and, according to the New England Journal of Medicine, has a proven success rate of approximately 90%.*
South Florida Scrambler Therapy is the first location in South Florida, the only one in Broward and Dade County, and one of the few in the United States to offer this machine and its benefits to patients of all ages suffering from neuropathy and other painful conditions. After your consultation at South Florida Scrambler Therapy, you’ll begin an initial round of treatment. During your treatment, a certified practitioner will apply electrodes to the appropriate areas. The electrode mapping is totally individual to each patient and may be changed or altered each visit. Scrambler Therapy does not cause any pain—you may experience sensations such as pinching, prickles, vibration, or pulsing.
Scrambler Therapy tends to take 10 initial visits over the 2 weeks. Some patients may receive additional treatments based on their severity and the number of areas being treated. Your appointments will last around an hour, and sessions take between 45 - 60 minutes. Your doctor will monitor your progress as you progress and adjust treatment as necessary to ensure optimal results. At the end of your treatment plan, we may recommend additional sessions depending on your progress.
Once Scrambler Therapy has caused your pain to subside, you can potentially experience months, or even years, of relief from chronic pain. Periodic booster treatments may be recommended (3-5 sessions) to extend the effectiveness of the therapy and improve the delivery of non-pain signals.
